Buddy Clearing (“Buddy Clearing,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, and disclose information in connection with buddyclearing.com and our related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Buddy Clearing is a business-to-business platform. The information we collect primarily relates to licensed cannabis businesses and the individuals who represent them, not to individual consumers.
We collect the following categories of information:
Business and License Information — such as your business’s legal name, license number, license type, state of licensure, and license status, submitted as part of your membership application.
Contact Information — such as your name, title, business address, direct and mobile phone numbers, and email address.
Transaction Information — such as listings you create, transactions you complete through the Services, and related manifest or transfer data.
Technical and Usage Information — such as IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website.
Communications — records of correspondence between you and Buddy Clearing, including support requests.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as follows:
With Other Members — certain business and listing information (such as your business name, license type, and available inventory) is visible to other approved Members as necessary to facilitate transactions. We do not share your private contact details with a counterparty unless a transaction is being actively facilitated.
With Service Providers — we work with third-party providers for website hosting (Webflow), domain and DNS services (IONOS), and other operational functions. These providers are contractually restricted from using your information for any purpose other than providing services to us.
With State Regulators — where required, we may share transaction or manifest-related information with state cannabis regulatory bodies in connection with compliance obligations.
With Our Banking Partners — Buddy Clearing maintains commercial banking relationships with financial institutions that provide services to cannabis and cannabis-ancillary businesses. As part of standard Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money-laundering compliance (including enhanced due diligence applicable to cannabis-ancillary businesses), we may share business, license, and transaction-related information with our banking partners and their compliance vendors.
For Legal Reasons — we may disclose information to comply with a legal obligation, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Buddy Clearing, our Members, or others.
Business Transfers — information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets.
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our site. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (including applicable state recordkeeping requirements for cannabis-related transactions), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your location and role, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of certain information we hold about you, subject to our legal and regulatory retention obligations (for example, we may be required to retain transaction records regardless of a deletion request). To exercise these rights, contact us at info@buddyclearing.com.
If you are a California resident acting in an individual capacity (rather than on behalf of a business, which is generally outside the scope of the CCPA’s consumer protections), you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect and disclose, and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
The Services are intended solely for licensed cannabis business representatives who are at least 21 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
